S’firat HaOmer Counting the Omer

It’s a mitzvah. A commandment. Not dread, not of force, but rather because excitement is in the air.
Following simple commands leads to the fulfillment of promises beyond our imagination.

Have you been so excited about an event you marked your calendar and counted off the days? Have you wished time would speed up, so the event would be here sooner?

God brought His people out just as He had told Abram, on purpose, with a profound purpose; to meet with Him. A meeting place, a mo’ed, an appointment. With everything, just as He has spoken. Think about this for a moment, God was waiting and planning to meet with His people, once again!

So many years of obedience, following the law of Feast of Weeks, what was so important about this?
Knowing the what without looking for the why allows the enemy a foothold. If God requires it, we can be certain it comes with more than we can think or imagine. It will be alive!

S’firat HaOmer (Counting of the Omer) links the Exodus from Egypt with the giving of the Torah at Sinai. A meeting place!

It’s Time to Count the Omer

It is time to count the omer
The days shall be complete
Counting of the omer
Abounding, bulging, full and replete

At the precise moment
In the twinkling of the eye
The promise forthcoming
Truth for all who to themselves will die

Planting of the seed
Leads to a dark damp season
Seemingly of no value
Without any rhyme or reason

We must die to self
In order to learn His ways
Because His ways are not ours
We measure weeks, counting days

We see and glean from weeks
Remaining steadfast and accurate
To lose count and quit is death;
What has been promised is immaculate

For when The Day had fully come
They in one accord did stand
Waited on the gift from God
Just as Messiah did command

The count coming upon fifty
Did they observe, and could they know
They would house the kingdom of God
Tongues of fire, The Spirit did show

His power mightily poured out
Spirit as a mighty rushing wind
Power from on high to be
Called witnesses Of Him

Our Jewish brothers and sisters
Will count and have begun
Because the fullness of the Gentiles
Is determined by The One

Oh what excitement awaits us. Can you sense it? The promise; not one and done as some believe, but a continuous flow, an exceedingly, abundantly more than we can think or imagine! An outpouring, a pouring out from heaven that cannot be stopped.

The annual grain harvest would usher in the power of His Spirit. Only if the seed falls into the ground and dies. Our first fruits is Christ the anointed One! May we be found in Him. Dead to the world, but alive in Him! The first fruit had to be shown to the priest before the other could be harvested. Get it? Leviticus 22:9-11.

The what and the why. The meeting place, the gathering for God to tell His people exactly what He required, years of trying and falling away. Determined but powerless to complete. Repentance and restoration, leading up to the Day of Pentecost…

Can you sense it? Do you feel His very presence in the holy atmosphere? The persecution, the trials, the travail, the traveling to get to the mountain, the meeting place. The place determined by The Almighty. Yes!!! I’m certain He is going to meet with us again, very soon! He will empower this movement to become what He destined all along. A chosen Nation, a Holy Priesthood, sons and daughters of our King!

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. For at one time you were not God’s people, but now you are. At one time you knew nothing of God’s mercy, because you hadn’t received it yet, but now you are drenched with it!”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:9-10‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I’m excited! Are you?

God bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord cause His countenance to rise upon you and give you Shalom.

Until next time, thank you for listening with me. Laurette

Today is day 9!

  1. all our present meetings (where two or three are gathered) we meet with God. He is there. Sometimes we are just along for the ride, or sightseers. Yet, all a prelude; a real life practice run (in a sense), for the grandest meeting ever. No dilly dally or sipping on a drink as a watcher. Only participants.
