Privets Sweet Cluster’s

“The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The early signs of My purposes and plans are bursting forth. The budding vines of new life are now blooming everywhere. The fragrance of their flowers whispers, ” There is change in the air.”

For now is the time to arise and come away with Me.” (Song of Songs 2:11-13 The Passion Translation.)

A fragrance so heavenly
Almost divine;
From whence do you come
But abiding in The Vine!

Privets sweet cluster’s
Glistening pure white
So tender and delicate
Swaying, catches my sight

Tiny little flower
That blooms with blossoms
Always alluring me
fragrant morning balsam

I love how you bunch
Staying closely connected
How is it you know
Where do you receive directive

Oh sweet privet
Your season is here
I believe to take a seat
Your sweet aroma, so near

A season so short
burst forth with splendor
Honey bees gathering
The nectar you tender

Flowers so delicate
White clusters divine
Beautiful and passionate
Your due season, set time

Blooming to His glory,
beauty, God’s perfect design
You bring joy every season
While abiding in The Vine

This morning I went outside to water the flowers in hanging baskets on my porch, and saw this butterfly in the privet. When I stepped out on my porch the heavenly fragrance was captivating. I just had to stop and take a few photos and enjoy this spring feast.

Can you feel it? Have you smelt the sweet fragrances of spring? This is newness of life. This is newness of purpose, and a bursting forth of destinies.

A few years ago I was near a small tree with tiny white clusters of the most fragrant blossoms I have ever smelled. Life was different and I was being ushered into newness of destiny. Life had taken a very good turn for me during this season. I had made it out, intact, from very extreme mental and emotional abuse, and dysfunction. God was showing me how to live life with Him and how to be who He created me to be. I was starting over and I had determined to live life God’s way or die. Yes, do or die was my mantra.

I had to know more about this tree. I began to ask everyone, what is this tree with white blossoms? I got several answers, but one answer was, “this is privet.” Oh the smell was simply heavenly. I went on a mission; find it, purchase it, plant it. We have several towering oaks, and pecans trees, and some smaller landscaping trees up beside our house. My husband asked me, “where are you going to plant these trees after you purchase them?”  I wasn’t sure but I just knew we had to have this.

Looking on the internet to find out about this new treasure I had discovered in a tree, I saw that there was wax leaf and variegated, tree and bush. I began to check nurseries for the wax leaf. The variegated is pretty but I was drawn to the deep green wax textured  leaf of the wax leaf privet. I must have this.

We moved into our home we now live in the previous June, and now it was the following spring and I had fallen in love with Privet. How had I lived and not seen this before? How was it that something so beautiful and fragrant hadn’t caught my attention before?  As I was looking and reading and visiting nurseries something began to bloom on the landscaping trees near our house. Yes, oh yes, it was Privet. We have three wax leaf Privets beside our house and a very large bush out near my husband’s shop. Oh the joys of days gone by. A friend said to me, this is an old landscaping tree that was popular in the 60’s and 70’s. Well if you don’t have Privet you do not know what you are missing.

If you abide in Me and My words abides in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:7

He created the desire, made me aware, because He had already supplied the fragrant blossoming tree.

I pray you have time or make time to stop and smell the Privet.

God bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord cause His countenance rise upon you and give you Shalom.

Until next time, thank you for listening with me. Laurette

    1. Thank you for reading my poem and short blog. Oh to tell of all He has done for me, I am going to do my best. He has given me such newness if life and life more abundant. I will live to tell of His goodness and help others to overcome for the rest of my life.
