During the Feast of Unleavened Bread (which begins at Passover) no food containing yeast or leaven may be eaten.
Blessed are You, O LORD our God, King of the Universe. You have sanctified us by Your Commandments, and commanded us concerning the removal of leaven.
“Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens he whole lump? Cleanse out the old leaven that you be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed.” (1 Corinthians 5:6-7 ESV)
Time to Clean this House!
Time to clean this house
Out with all the yeast
Leaven is the sin of man
That determines to the least
We must show ourselves prepared
By examining every inch
Every corner and the cracks
Light of a candle, reveals even a pinch
We cannot be negligent
Nor overlook a crumb
Satan hopes we’re lackadaisical
Presuming we are dumb
We will take a feather
And dust this entire place
Whisk even crumbs into a bag
Outside to burn leaving no trace
For we are not surprised
by Pharaohs ploys and tactics
God said no time for yeast
leaving in haste, departure was climactic
We have witnessed every plague
Now we know without a doubt
God is not slow nor is He slack
Making known His power while bringing us out
No longer slaves veiled or separated
Led out by the power of God
Taking us out of Egypt
Eye witness to His power, we’ve been awed
No moaning or complaining
May come across our lips
We do not want to be the ones
Left to die because we quipped
Give no provision to grumbling
Only believe and obey
He is going to takes us out
But why the longest way
Cleansing us from Egypt’s ways
Teaching us how to live as free
We are citizens of a different land
By faith created to have liberty
He will safely bring us out
With His righteous right arm
Into the land He promised
Safe from all of life’s harm

Deuteronomy 16:3 ISV
You must not eat any yeast with it. Instead, for seven days eat bread without yeast—the bread of affliction—because you left the land of Egypt in haste. Remember the day you went out of the land of Egypt for the rest of your lives.
Proverbs 20:27 KJV
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Did you know this is where we in the Western world get our custom of spring cleaning?
As our Jewish brothers and sisters have been busy preparing to enjoy the Passover they have been working very hard. They have cleaned and purged all leaven out of their homes. They have been busy and shown diligence in removing every crumb of yeast or leaven from their homes. This is to sanctify the home in order to be able to enjoy the Passover meal. They have boiled and sterilized every item that has been used to prepare leavened dishes. Anything that has come into contact with yeast or leaven has to be sterilized and cleaned. For our Natural born (believers in Yeshua are grafted in) Jewish brothers and sisters this is a very busy and active time. They are working diligently to prepare. What a picture of repentance.
Recently I saw a cartoon that had a depiction of two guys talking. One was asking the question, the other answered him. The first guy ask, “how do you make holy water?” The second guy answered, ” You boil the hell out of it.” Funny? yes, but that is what being purged by the blood of The Lamb of God has done for us who believe. We have been saved from hell and a life apart from God. We have been redeemed out of sin.
God has given us His only begotten Son, Jesus. Jesus, The only Begotten of God has willing laid down His life and drank the cup of redemption. Now we must cleanse our house of anything that has been defiled by sin. We must do the work that salvation has paid for. We now willingly purge out all sin, cleaning out even the corners and the dark places where sin might be hiding. We don’t toy with wrong thinking or play with sin. Those who are truly born again know that we are required to separate ourselves from sin. We no longer believe we can just wink at a little sin or justify our actions.
The women examined and searched even the cracks and crevices to be certain that no leaven was hiding.
Isn’t it amazing how closely their rituals speak to us spiritually?
As we prepare for Resurrection Sunday I pray we have a repentant posture. Join me as we intercede for our loved ones, and others who are lost, somewhere between the borrowed tomb and the realization of the Resurrection. Those were very dark days but early Sunday morning……………..
God bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord make His countenance rise upon you and give you Shalom.
Until next time, thank you for listening with me. Laurette
